Force Calculation
Distance Calculation
In physics, torque is the twisting force that causes the rotation. The point where the object rotates is called as pivot point or axis of rotation. If you apply a force at some distance from the pivot point, then even though this force will act along a straight line, the torque generated by this force will cause the object to rotate. You can use the above torque calculator to calculate the torque in a rotating object by providing force and distance values.
Torque Calculation Formula:
τ = D * F * sinθ
- Where:
- τ is the torque, and the unit of torque is newton-meters.
- D is the distance between the pivot point and the point of force application.
- F is the force applied.
- θ is the angle between the force vector and lever arm vector. Typically, generally it is equal to 90°.
