The new analog (1ED34xx) and digital (1ED38xx) EiceDRIVER X3 Enhanced gate driver ICs from Infineon Technologies can increase design flexibility, reduce hardware complexity, and shorten evaluation time in various industrial applications. These devices provide a typical 3A, 6A, and 9A output current; short-circuit detection, a Miller clamp, and soft turn-off. The 1ED34xx IC offers an adjustable desaturation filter time and soft turn-off current with external resistors and the 1ED38xx comes with I2C configurability options like short-circuit detection, soft turn-off, under-voltage lockout (UVLO), a Miller clamp, and over-temperature shutdown and offers a two-level turn-off through software settings (TLTOff).
The devices with superior features are suitable to be used in industrial drives, solar systems, uninterruptible power supplies, EV chargers, and other industrial applications. Both the new gate driver ICs come in discrete and module packages and are designed for IGBTs, SiC, and Si MOSFETs. With the output current of up to 9 A, there is no need for external booster components.
Exceptional CMTI robustness of more than 200 kV/µs avoids faulty switching patterns. The 40 V absolute maximum output supply voltage and a tight propagation delay matching of 30 ns (max.) result in a shorter dead time. The 1ED34xx and 1ED38xx gate drivers come in a small DSO-16 fine pitch package with 8 mm creepage and are UL 1577-certified for 5.7 kV RMS, which combined with precise thresholds and timings, ensures superior application safety. The EiceDRIVER 1ED34xx and 1ED38xx can be ordered now from the company website. The EVAL-1ED3491MX12M evaluation board is available too for purchase.
