Now the cultural monuments of the church Halberstadt Cathedral in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany built in the 15th century are in safe hands, by an amazing piece of work using the technology of 21st century “the Intel® Falcon™ 8+ drone”, completed by experts of Bauhaus University Weimar and Kulturstiftung Sachsen-Anhalt. These are the foundation for the safeguarding of cultural monuments, Intel is going to start an analysis of monuments damage and also going to inspect them via “the Intel® Falcon™ 8+ drone”. Drone helps in getting data for restoration planning, ensuring the cathedral by which its artwork will remain same or healthy for coming centuries.
The environment of earth getting polluted day by day which harms the monuments like Halberstadt Cathedral. Surveys for standard stock condition and structural health are some old monitoring surveys which give data on the monuments condition and state of repair, but doing these surveys are cost enough and technically difficult to conduct.
“Advanced technology, like the Intel Falcon 8+ drone, provides enormous potential for structural monitoring, Working with Intel drone technology has allowed us to reach previously inaccessible spaces, like the cathedral’s bell towers. While we are just in the beginning stages of this three-year project, the costs saved by carrying out these inspections via a drone are already being put towards further conservation efforts” said by Norman Hallermann, Bauhaus University Weimar.
When it’s about the monument's restoration we need a perfect data with no scope of fault to start the work on it. The technology reaches to a high level that the Drone will help in making the 3D structure of the respective monuments to help in fully analyzing by capturing detailed images in less than an hour of total flight time. The drone is very cost effective then the surveys cost and also helps in providing visual inspection of fragile, hard-to-reach structures without disturbing their surroundings. This is really be needed because of the weak condition of the Gothic-style church and its artwork, damages like extraction condition of monuments will reach to a new and good condition by removing the risk of damage by the traditional method of using ladders and scaffolding. The stone statues with a height of about 20 feet above the cathedral floor are in unreliable condition due to the weak state and delicate color pigment, which is now a detached shell on the stone surface.
