Diodes Incorporated has introduced a synchronous DC-DC buck converter for point-of-load (POL) conversion. The AP62600 converter IC can deliver up to 6A output with a supply voltage of 4.5V to 18V, it is designed with high side and low side MOSFETs with 36mΩ and 14mΩ on resistance, respectively. AP62600 is available in a 2mm x 3mm package, hence they can be used in the smallest of products.
In AP62600, the proprietary gate driver scheme is coupled with a fast transient response, this reduces the high-frequency EMI and minimizes switching node ringing. The selectable switching frequency of the device delivers more flexibility and allows the engineers to choose the components for efficiency or a smaller form factor.
The power good indicators of the device will alert the users during the occurrence of a fault and the programmable soft –startup mode controls inrush current at power-up. The designers can enable power sequencing while using multiple AP62600s and supply large integrated devices such as FPGAs, ASICs, DSPs, and microprocessors.
AP62600 can deliver high efficiency for all loads and can operate in three different modes like Pulse Frequency Modulation (PFM), Ultrasonic Mode (USM), and Pulse Width Modulation (PWM). The key features of the IC are listed below.
