The Vicor corporation has introduced the DCM3717 to allow the customers in the data center, automotive and industrial market to quickly implement high-performance 48V power delivery of legacy 12V loads along with achieving significant power-system size, weight, and efficiency benefits. The new device supports LV148 (48V automotive standard) specifications to operate in pure electric and hybrid vehicles. The recent Open Compute Project (OCP) Open Rack Standard V2.2 for distributed 48V server backplane architectures, provides a regulated 48V-to-12V option for downstream legacy 12V multiphase point-of-load converters.
The non-isolated DCM3717 operates from a 40V-60V SELV input and provides a regulated output of 10V to 13.5V with a continuous power rating of 750V and a peak efficiency of 97% in a 37x17x7.4mm Surface Mount Converter housed in a package (SM-Chip).
