The platform is also expected to implement AI models for language, code and geospatial science and also aims to craft cutting-edge AI models for other domains as required
In an effort to grow the skilling in artificial intelligence (AI) and research and development, semiconductors, and quantum technologies in the country, the US based international technology company IBM has signed three memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
Speaking of the three MoUs, IBM aims to set-up a national AI Innovation Platform backed by the IndiaAI Program. In fact, an all-new research center for the semiconductor R&D ecosystem will be formed under the agreement and there will be efforts to build quantum services and related infrastructure in the country. The MoUs have the potential to assist the government in growing local capabilities in critical technologies.
The Digital India Corporation formed between IBM and the ministry will help in setting up a unique AI innovation ecosystem that will focus exclusively on AI skilling, ecosystem development, and integrating advanced foundation models and generative AI capabilities. With the help of IBM’s Watsonx platform, the forum is likely to spearhead for incubation and competency development in AI technologies and their applications for use cases of national importance.
Moreover, the dais is also expected to implement AI models for language, code and geospatial science and also aims to craft cutting-edge AI models for other domains as required. Very soon, the company is highly expected to become MeitY’s knowledge associate for India Semiconductor Mission to set-up a top-notch semiconductor research unit. Experiences in regards to skills development, tools, initiatives, and intellectual property will be shared by IBM to ISM.
Speaking about the benefits of the MoUs, Sandip Patel, managing director (MD), IBM India & South Asia said, "This collaboration reinforces our commitment to be the trusted partner for India in enhancing its innovation capabilities. Supporting the government’s efforts in building infrastructure, enhancing human capital and knowledge creation in these three areas of technology will be integral to India’s digital transformation and economic growth."
