According to the experts, in the coming five years, the country would witness around one lakh new semiconductor design engineers
Over the past few years, India’s semiconductor industry has seen a massive transformation backed by numerous schemes and incentives. The industry has unleashed a huge escalation in employment opportunities coupled with a range of semiconductor fabrication centers and research and development centers. According to the experts, in the coming five years, the country would witness around one lakh new semiconductor design engineers.
For instance, the US based global semiconductor firm Micron has already commenced hiring talents for its new plant in Sanand and over thirty students have received the offer to join the company, according to Analytics India Magazine. Reports also indicate that around 150 engineering freshers will be hired by the company this year from Gujarat.
The company’s investment worth Rs 22,500 Crore in Sanand region has proved to be a huge achievement for India’s success in industrial manufacturing. Micron is all set to establish India’s most sophisticated Assembly, Testing, Marking, and Packaging (ATMP) facility, which will offer 5,000 direct employment and 15,000 indirect job opportunities. The engineering graduates who specialize in communication and electronics have been offered annual packages between Rs 15 Lakh to Rs 20 Lakh.
The report by Analytics India magazine also added that Israel’s Tower semiconductor is again looking forward to set-up new fab facility in the country for which scores of fresh engineering graduates will be hired. In the meantime, Tata Group has also planned to invest Rs 200 Crore for its new semiconductor packaging and testing facility in Naraspura division in Bengaluru, which is expected to create 155 direct employment opportunities. The increasing design units and manufacturing centers is likely to open a huge 12 lakh jobs in the coming years.
