Infineon Technologies launched the new LED driver IC ILD8150/E features an innovative hybrid dimming mode technology for achieving 0.5 percent of the target current. The driver IC gives a high safety voltage margin for applications operating close to safe extra-low voltage (SELV) limits with its supply voltage ranging from 8 VDC up to 80 VDC. The ILD8150/E buck LED driver IC is ideal for general and professional LED lighting applications with high dimming requirements.
The ILD8150/E features deep dimming performance without flicker and prevents audible noise with a flicker free modulation frequency of 3.4 kHz. Also in analog mode, a PWM input signal between 250 Hz and 20 kHz controls the LED current from 100 to 12.5 percent and from 12.5 to 0.5 percent in hybrid dimming mode. The driver IC offers digital PWM dimming detection with high resolution and the low power shutdown which matches the ILD8150/E IC perfectly to microcontrollers. The driver IC also features a dim-to-off function and a pull-down transistor to avoid LED glowing in dim-to-off mode.
The ILD8150/E comprises a soft-start function to protect the primary stage from abrupt current requests and a shunt resistor for adjustable maximum output current. The driver IC is capable of driving up to 1.5 A with its high-side integrated switch. The IC will help in broad applications such as tunable white and flat panel designs with its precise output current accuracy of typical 3 percent from one device to another under all load and input voltage conditions. More than this, the IC is also ideal for professional LED lighting solutions with its functions such as under voltage lockout (UVLO) for the bootstrap voltage and over temperature protection.
The ILD8150/E LED driver IC comes in DSO-8 housing package enabling wave soldering and the IC achieves higher thermal performance with exposed pad.
