Infineon Technologies will release a new family of current sensors consists of precise and stable coreless Hall sensors. The sensors features a high level of flexibility as customers can individually program product parameters such as the current range, the overcurrent threshold and the output mode. The XENSI TLI4971 is first product of its family which covers measurement range from ±25 A to ±120 A. These features makes it ideal for industrial applications such as electric drives up to 50 kW or photovoltaic inverters.
The XENSI TLI4971 current sensors come with Infineon’s temperature and stress compensation which features sensitivity error as low as 2 percent at room temperature. It can further be reduced below 2 percent with a single point in-system calibration. Along with this, the differential measurement with two Hall cells leads it for high accuracy even in a noisy environment with cross-talk from adjacent current lines or magnetic stray fields. The current sensor TLI4971 features coreless open loop which offers an accurate and stable current measurement provided as an analog output voltage.
The current sensor comes with two output pins for fast overcurrent signals, where customers are free to program the threshold levels of the overcurrent signals to adopt them to system requirements without the need of further external components. The signals can further be used for pre-warning and system shut-down. The TLI4971 features coreless concept which makes it small in size and comes in an 8x8x1 mm leadless QFN type package (TISON-8). The current rail layout gives thermal performance for currents up to 120 A, at no extra cost. The device is made for use in high voltage application and incorporates galvanic isolation up to 1.1 kV (maximum repetitive isolation voltage VIORM).
The XENSIV TLI4971 current sensor will be released in September 2019 and samples will be available from August 2019.
