Infineon Technologies released new 600V CIPOS Micro IM231 series Intelligent Power Modules (IPM) qualified for harsh humid environments. The new IPM has passed 1000 hours of high voltage, high temperature and high humidity reverse bias (HV H3TRB) stress testing. This makes it ideal for power appliance motor drives particularly in circulator hydronic pumps, drain pumps for washing machines, dishwashers, and kitchen hoods. The IPM offers highest UL1557-certified isolation voltage in its class with 2kV. The IM231 series features the latest motor drive TRENCHSTOP™6 IGBT and optimized switching characteristics for higher efficiency and low EMI.
The IPM IM231 series offers optimum performance, ruggedness, protection and ease of use with anti shoot-through, it prevents spurious simultaneous turn n of high and low side IGBTs caused by malfunction of the microcontroller or external noise. Which leads it for the additional applications include air-conditioning fans, refrigerator compressors, and motorized blinds. The device is available in both the form factor i.e. SMD (Surface Mount) and THD (Through Hole). For smarter system design, it comes features, Built-in UL certified NTC thermistor, anti-shoot through and accurate over current protection and fault reporting. The CIPOS Micro IM231 series integrates current protection with a high accuracy of +/-5 percent. For easy design, the device can be addressed with the same IPM package and an identical PCB design.
The CIPOS Micro IM231 series comes in 4A (IM231-M6S1B, IM231-M6T2B) and 6A (IM231-L6S1B, IM231-L6T2B) offerings and the samples are available now at Infineon website.
