Kiko is a high-precision measuring instrument and a family health indicator designed by Magpie Tech. It is a set of instruments that comprises a laser height measure and a digital scale to help users to track their child’s growth easily and accurately, thereby eliminating the need to visit the doctors or rely on schools for reliable measurements. With Kiko, it is easy to measure your child’s height and weight with a single application. Take care of your child’s health with a single click of a button.
The Kiko Laser Height Measurer is an innovative and technically advanced alternative to analog stadiometers. Unlike other sensors like ultrasonic, the laser moves at a constant which makes Kiko get accurate measurements accurate easily. The device accurately measures height with a laser and needs to be first placed on the floor to measure the distance from the ground to the ceiling. This will be used as a baseline and Kiko will subtract the distance from your child’s head to the ceiling afterward. Since the baseline figure will be saved automatically, users don’t have to reestablish the baseline every time.
Kiko is equipped with Auto Calibration Technology that compensates for any skews or tilted angles in the tolerance range of ±5°. First, Kiko's gyroscope sensor calculates the angle of inclination. Then the Auto Calibration Technology compensates the angle and corrects it to the correct vertical value. Measurement errors are therefore limited to ± 0.06 inches (1.5mm), even when a child keeps moving and the measurement is shaky.
The Kiko Smart Scale measures weight, along with body fat, bone mass, muscle mass, visceral fat, water, protein, and basal metabolism. Electrodes of the Kiko Smart Scale are placed with an interval of 4.3 inches enabling children to get accurate measures.
Both Kiko Height Measurer and Smart Scale can be paired to your smart device via Bluetooth. Thus, all the figures will be saved automatically in the Kiko M&S application, enabling you to easily track your child’s growth. As of now, 20 design prototypes and 7 mock-up designs have been created and the project is up on Kickstarter.
