Vishay Intertechnology introduced a new series of Infrared (IR) sensor modules in five compact package types. These TSSP9xxx modules offer a long range presence and proximity sensing up to 2 m and 30 m with a fast reaction time of 300 μs and a high interface time without spurious signals. These modules are designed with a PIN photodiode and sensor IC in compact Minimold (TSSP930..), Mold (TSSP940..), Heimdall (TSSP950..), Panhead (TSSP960..), and Minicast (TSSP980..) Packages.
These modules provide an output pulse width closer to the optical burst length and they offer almost a constant detection threshold over their -25 °C to +85 °C temperature range and it can detect a valid IR signal up to a higher DC illuminance level. They operate at a supply voltage range from 2.0 V to 3.6 V and a current range of 0.8mA, and offer carrier frequencies of 38kHz and 56kHz.These IR sensors are designed in a way to receive IR pulses from emitter with a peak wavelength of 940 nm. They are insensitive to supply voltage and ripple noise and provides shielding against EMI, while an IR filter suppresses visible light. The TSSP9xxx series is RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and Vishay Green.
The TSSP9xxx series are best for fast proximity applications (~15 ms) by using burst pattern and variable intensity. They are Ideal for sensing the distance of objects for toys, drones, robots, and vicinity switches, and they can also be used in devices having reflective sensors like hand dryers, towel and soap dispensers, water faucets, toilets, vending machine fall detection and security and pet gates.
Samples and production quantities of the new sensors are available now, with lead times of four weeks.
