Maxim Integrated has introduced the MAX25605 sequential LED controller aiming to reduce design space up to 50% and to cut the bill of materials (BOM) costs by up to 25% compared to similar solutions in the market. The new device eliminates the need for a microcontroller or software. This saves development time and reduces design complexity.
The simplified design of MAX25605 allows the designers to include sequential LED lighting features in more mid-range and economy models. The MAX25605 LED controller can provide simple resistor programming for sequence timing and direction, hazard light applications, and Optional Logarithmic LED Fade. Flexible Configuration of the device allows the use of the same device in different applications like One, Two, or Three Series LEDs per Switch and Floating Source MOSFETs.
With controlled LED current up to 750mA, the MAX25605 integrates six switches, manages up to three LEDs per switch, and can be daisy-chained up to 16 devices without the need for a microcontroller or software. These features allow the designers to accurately program sequence timing direction and linear or log dimming along with easy detection of fault conditions.
