New nanoPower Modules with Built-in Inductors to Extend Battery Life in Space-Constrained Applications

Analog Devices, Inc. has introduced two nanoPower modules with built-in inductors that are designed to extend battery life and reduce size in space-constrained internet of things (IoT) devices. The MAXM38643 and MAXM17225 micro system-level IC modules are up to 37 percent smaller in size compared to a standalone IC and are suitable for space-constrained consumer products, wearables, medical drug delivery, sensors, IoT devices, as well as wired, wireless, and industrial products.

The MAXM38643 600mA buck module with 1.8V to 5.5V input, 330nA quiescent current, and the MAXM17225 1A boost module with 0.4V to 5.5V input, 300nA feature the lowest IQ compared to competitive solutions and deliver more battery life. Both of these modules consume an order of magnitude less quiescent current and have peak efficiencies of 96 percent and 95 percent.
