Vishay Intertechnology Optocouplers Feature Static dV/dt of 1000 V/μs

Vishay Intertechnology has released two new optocouplers which will be add-on to its optocoupler family with phototriac output in compact DIP-6 and SMD-6 packages. The optocouplers VOT8026A and VOT8123A deliver high robustness and noise isolation for home appliances, industrial application with features such as high off-state voltage of 800 V and static dV/dt of 1000 V/μs. The two released optocouplers are zero crossing and non-zero crossing with reduced design costs, board space optimization.

The optocouplers facilitate an easy interface with digital logic offering low trigger currents of 5mA and 10mA for VOT8026A and VOT8123A respectively. The optocouplers offer a withstanding isolation voltage of at least 5000 VRMS for additional safety maintaining enough voltage headroom for three-phase applications. The devices consists of a GaAs infrared LED optically coupled to either a zero-crossing TRIAC (VOT8026A) for EMI reduction without the need for external snubber networks, or a random-phase TRIAC (VOT8123A) to enable phase-independent switching. The optocouplers isolate low voltage logic from 120VAC, 240VAC, and 380 VAC lines to control the resistive, capacitive, inductive loads including motors, solenoids, high current thyristors, or TRIACs and relays.
