Renesas Electronics Corporation has introduced the RRH62000, a compact and advanced all-in-one sensor module designed specifically for indoor air quality monitoring. Measuring 46.6 x 34.8 x 12 mm, the RRH62000 integrates several key sensors, making it highly efficient for various applications such as air purifiers, HVAC systems, and smart home devices. At the core of the module is a laser-based sensor capable of detecting particulate matter (PM) in three size ranges: PM1, PM2.5, and PM10. These particles range in diameter from 0.3 to 10 micrometers, allowing for precise monitoring of air quality, including harmful particulates that can affect respiratory health.
The module is equipped with the ZMOD4410 gas sensor, which detects total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs), gases that can be emitted from sources like paint, cleaning supplies, and cooking. It also includes the HS4003 sensor, which measures humidity and temperature, providing detailed data on environmental conditions. Additionally, the RRH62000 can estimate CO2 levels, giving an indication of carbon dioxide concentration in indoor spaces. The module is capable of outputting data from up to seven sensors simultaneously, enabling comprehensive real-time air quality monitoring.
The module is built with a Renesas RA Family microcontroller (MCU), which manages sensor operations and facilitates data processing and communication. It supports I²C and UART communication protocols, allowing for integration into various systems. The RRH62000 includes firmware with artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms, enabling configuration according to various air quality standards, such as The Well Building Standard (WELL) and the Home Ventilating Institute (HVI) standards. This flexibility allows the module to be used in diverse environments, including schools, offices, and residential areas, for monitoring and managing indoor air quality.
