Mitsubishi Electric has released its MELFA ASSISTA series of robots that work collaboratively with humans based on safety features such as collision detection and strict compliance with the international safety and robotic standards ISO 10218-1 and ISO/TS15066. Also, the RT VisualBox which is an intuitive engineering software is introduced for quick, easy system deployment. The combination (MELFA ASSISTA and RT VisualBox) will help customers realize more efficient production; reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) of robotic manufacturing systems. Besides, they will also be able to meet new needs for the adequate distancing of workers in manufacturing sites.
Simplifying the application development using intuitive flow-chart programming, the RT VisualBox programming tool enables users to create operating sequences intuitively by linking block diagrams in a chain of events, including connection with other devices like robot hands and cameras. Fast program-development and design time will help in reducing system TCO.
The dedicated control panel on the robot arm will help in teaching the movements to the robot and quickly record. So, users don’t need separate teaching boxes that the conventional industrial robots generally require. Besides, the control panel features a simple design with a minimum number of buttons for simplicity and these buttons enable users without any prior knowledge of robots to set up the system with ease. Additionally, there are input and control devices for creating, recording, and deploying movement programs. The robot has a bright LED light that is located on the robot arm. Different light colors indicate the status of the robot and help lower TCO by eliminating the need for conventional monitoring devices.
