Microchip added new single and dual-core dsPIC33C Digital Signal Controllers (DSCs) to its DSC family with more options to meet changing application requirements across memory, temperature and functional safety. The new single-core dsPIC33CK64MP105 DSC comes in cost optimized version for applications which require small memory and footprint. Whereas dual-core dsPIC33CH512MP508 DSC is focused on applications with larger program memory requirements. Both DSCs feature pin-to-pin compatible within the dsPIC33CH and dsPIC33CK families, so developers can easily scale products across lines using the new devices.
The dsPIC33CK64MP105 and dsPIC33CH512MP508 comes with robust set of CAN-FD peripherals alongside of operation support up to 1500C which makes it ideal for extreme operating conditions such as the under-the-hood automotive applications. The dsPIC33CK64MP105(MP1) family comes with cost-optimized version for low memory and footprint applications offering up to 64 KB Flash memory and 28- to 48- pin packages with smaller package size of only 4 mm X 4 mm. The dsPIC33CH512MP508 (MP5) feature larger memory of 512 KB and also triples the program RAM to 72KB from 24KB compare to its previous family dsPIC33CH. All devices features set of functional safety hardware to ease ASIL-B and ASIL-C certifications in safety-critical applications. Functional safety features include multiple redundant clock sources, Fail Safe Clock Monitor (FSCM), IO ports read-back, Flash Error Correction Code (ECC), RAM Built-In Self-Test (BIST), write protection, analog peripheral redundancies and more.
The dsPIC33x family can be programmed by using the Microchip’s MPLAB development ecosystem including Microchip’s free MPLABX Integrated Development Environment (IDE), MPLAB Code Configurator, MPLAB XC16 C Compiler tool chain and MPLAB in-circuit debugger/programmer tools. Development tools for the new devices include the dsPIC33CH Curiosity Board (DM330028-2), the dsPIC33CH512MP508 PIM for general-purpose designs (MA330046), the dsPIC33CH512MP508 PIM for motor control (MA330045), the dsPIC33CK64MP105 PIM for general purpose designs (MA330047), the dsPIC33CK64MP105 PIM for external op amp motor control (MA330050-1) and the dsPIC33CK64MP105 for internal op amp motor control (MA330050-2). ‘
