Water is a very scarce resource that needs to be used sparingly by everyone. Many people around the world go for days without this very basic need. Many liters of water are lost through water taps that are either left unclosed or not closed properly every day, which is a concern for the world at large. Due to climate changes and other factors, we are gradually running out of underground water and the rain no longer falls as it used to do without the negative impact of climate changes. Everyone has a duty to save water and save lives. Using technology, we can make this a reality.
The proposed project consists of various mechanisms to monitor, control and analyze the usage of water of individual taps. It also determines the quality level and other parameters necessary for safe usage. Following are the proposed functions:
1)Proximity sensor to detect when user places hands under the tap.
2)Turning OFF tap if ON for extended duration.
3)Turning OFF tap if the vessel placed below is full- using sound based EgdeML
4) Also detect if there is any leakage nearby by analyzing sounds.
5)App based GUI to track water usage and predict future usage.
6)Alert user if excessive water is being used in a particular tenure.
