Though the recent developments of science and technology has drastically changed the way a normal person lives, there are certain groups of people who have not been able to be benefit from this development. On particular for elderly, impairment, handicaps, people with disabilities and permanent injury people with have limited mobility are still living a miserable life and often rely on others for their locomotion. There is no proper integrated cost effective multi-functioned wheelchair in the market for them to require mobility to move freely and safely.

The present day society demands the people to be independent, irrespective of their natural challenges, mentally or physically. The probability of them to go and interact with the outside world is very minimal, unless they are provided with modern moving tools such as a multi-functioned Wheelchair.
With this emerging world of automation and technologically advanced society, we live in a smart wheelchair with appropriate automation can be a life-changing innovation for them. So the objective of this multi-functioned “Smart Wheelchair” invention is to solve the problem of three main people in one shot. They are the patients or disabled people, elderly people, and also the helper or caretakers.

We aim at integrating a simple Manually operated wheelchair with features such as Eye Gaze, Voice Command, Gesture Recognition, and Mobile Application that can be controlled by the elderly, people with disabilities, and helpers.

For instance, a blind person can use “Smart Wheelchair” that allows voice-controlled movement or even gesture-controlled movement. Another might be of a person who can’t speak, will now be able to control everything with his bare hands. In addition to that it may also be controlled by another person taking care of the disabled by mobile application.

In addition to that the “Smart Wheelchair” has Save our Soul (SOS) concepts. Patients with paralysis or leg disability face difficulties for reaching places. Some people try to use a walker, in many cases the patient can lose balance and fall and be injured. In this circumstance, the user needs to press the help button for an emergency. This system automatically send the emergency notification to the caretaker or helper. In case the patient is unable to press the button, then they can simply speak the help command into the mic for an emergency.

This will reduces the user's efforts and also helps people to take care of their elderly. With this project, not only we do help a person using a normal wheelchair more easily but also make life easier for those who have other disabilities which are standing as an obstacle making it difficult for them to walk.
