As a population of few billions, our country generates trillion tons of garbage everyday. Of course managing such huge amounts of trash is a difficult task. Moreover segregating, wet waste, dry waste and recyclable waste becomes all the more difficult due to absence of sufficient garbage management infrastructure and poor awareness. I therefore propose a Smart Waste bin powered by renewable solar energy. Detects human presence and accordingly opens the bin thereby facilitating contactless operation. Using various sensors, transducers and computer vision applications, it can separate wet, dry waste as well as recyclable and non-recyclable waste. The user is alerted if the dustbin is full and is redirected to the nearest dustbin via mobile app.
